Monday: The Word Became Flesh
John 1:14 - "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
Discussion:
Start by asking: What is the best gift you've ever received? Then explain that at Christmas, God gave us the greatest gift—Jesus. In today’s verse, "the Word" means Jesus, who has always existed with God. Jesus became human to live among us.
Story:
There was once a king who loved his people very much. He wanted to help them, but they lived far away in a village where no one knew who he was. So, the king took off his royal robes, dressed like one of them, and moved into their village. He worked alongside them, helped them, and showed them how to live better lives. This is like what Jesus did for us—He left heaven and became one of us so we could know God’s love.
Prayer:
Thank God for sending Jesus to live among us and show us His love.
Tuesday: God’s Plan Fulfilled
Isaiah 7:14 - "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."
Discussion:
Ask: What does Immanuel mean? (Answer: "God with us.") Explain that hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God promised He would send His Son. This shows us that God always keeps His promises.
Story:
Imagine a child waiting for their favorite dessert. Their parent promises it will come at the right time, but they have to wait. Finally, the day arrives, and the child enjoys the treat. In the same way, God’s people waited a long time for His promise to come true, but when Jesus was born, they saw that God always keeps His promises.
Prayer:
Thank God for being faithful and keeping His promises.
Wednesday: Jesus Shows Us God
Hebrews 1:3a - "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person..."
Discussion:
Hold up a mirror and ask: What do you see? Just like a mirror shows our reflection, Jesus shows us exactly what God is like. When we learn about Jesus, we learn about God.
Story:
There was a little boy who wanted to know what his father was like. The father worked far away and couldn’t come home often. One day, the boy found a picture of his dad and realized how much they looked alike. In the same way, when we look at Jesus, we see exactly what God is like.
Prayer:
Thank Jesus for helping us know God better through His life.
Thursday: God’s Perfect Timing
Galatians 4:4 - "But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law."
Discussion:
Talk about how we wait for Christmas and count down the days. Jesus was born at just the right time—not too early or too late. God’s timing is always perfect!
Story:
There was a gardener who planted seeds in the spring. He watered them and cared for them, but he couldn’t rush the plants to grow. When summer came, the plants grew tall and strong, and in the fall, they were ready to harvest. In the same way, God sent Jesus at the perfect time in history.
Prayer:
Thank God for His perfect plan and ask for patience to trust His timing.
Friday: Seeing Jesus in the Bible
John 5:39 - "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."
Discussion:
Ask: Where can we find Jesus in the Bible? Explain that the entire Bible points to Jesus, from the promises in the Old Testament to His life and teachings in the New Testament.
Story:
Once, two travelers were walking on a road, feeling sad because they thought Jesus was gone forever. A man joined them and began to explain how all the scriptures pointed to Jesus. Later, they realized that man was Jesus Himself! (See Luke 24:13-35.) This story reminds us that Jesus is the focus of the whole Bible.
Prayer:
Thank God for giving us the Bible so we can learn about Jesus and grow closer to Him.
