Baptism At Calvary
Baptism at Calvary Baptist Church
Learn about the sacred act of baptism and how you can take this important step in your faith journey.
What Does Baptism Mean?
As Jesus instructed in Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Christ and your commitment to follow Him.
Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When we are saved, we identify with Christ’s sacrifice on the cross by being buried under the water and rising again as a symbol of our dedication to living a life that is pleasing to God.
"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." — Romans 6:3-5
How Can I Be Baptized?
- Understand that you are a sinner, have confessed your sins to God, and have accepted Christ as your Savior.
- Schedule a meeting with Pastor Broyhill or one of the assistant pastors to discuss your faith and desire to be baptized.
- Children must have parental approval and understand the meaning of baptism. Parents should convey why baptism is important after salvation.
- Present yourself for baptism at the end of one of the morning or evening services, and meet with a church worker to express your desire.
- Baptism will be scheduled for one of the Sunday evening services.
- During the baptismal service, you will be baptized, and a picture will be taken with the pastor who is baptizing you.
- Your baptismal certificate and picture will be available one to two weeks later.
