Becoming A Difference Maker
You might ask the question, can one person really make a difference? The answer is a resounding yes!
I am reminded of a young Jewish woman, named Esther, whom God used to save her people from destruction. Through the providential working of God, Esther was married to the Persian King, Ahasuerus. Shortly after becoming queen, one of King Ahasuerus’ chief princes named Haman devised a plan to kill all the Jews throughout the kingdom of Persia. Esther’s uncle Mordecai came and asked her to go before the king and plead for the lives of her people. According to Persian law if a person came before the king without being summoned, they could be executed unless he beckoned to them with the golden scepter. Esther had not appeared before the king in thirty days. After three days of prayer and fasting with her maidens Esther went in to see King Ahasuerus and pled for her people to be spared. Her courageous decision is recorded in Esther
God granted Esther favor in the eyes of Ahasuerus who not only granted her request to save the Jews but also hanged their enemy Haman on the same gallows he had devised for her uncle Mordecai. Out of love and compassion Queen Esther made a difference by risking her life to save her people from destruction. She had come to the kingdom “…for such a time as this” (Esther
